So here in Northern Wisconsin we had a very long and cold winter. This in turn caused me to have spring shooter fever ….Meaning I had to create some fun concepts to use the winter weather to my advantage. Of all those ideas this one can to light. I had so much fun on this shoot …A huge thank you to Derick Cich Makeup Artistry for the amazing makeup and to Annika L for braving the cold with me!
As a mom, I totally get it now. Mother’s Day, simply put, rocks. Better than Christmas or a birthday. Mother’s Day celebrates the hardest and most rewarding job ever, a special sisterhood rewarded during the height of spring bloom. I received the best gift this year. No necklace, or card can compare!!! My son, lil’ P is always up for a photo with mom but Miss K well she is a bit harder to nail down
….until two nights ago when she came to my room and said “mama I NEED a picture with you” My heart soared. I jumped into action dresses -check, a touch of makeup -check, wash her messy lil’ face (I have plenty of those pics already) -check. Out the front door we went and hiked just 15 feet away to a tiny clearing in the woods. It might have taken 25 shots but I got the best mothers day present ever. One I will cherish for a lifetime.

And just a side note these were only taken a month or so apart from each other. Got to love Wisconsin weather LOL. I hope each and every mother out there, a professional or not, takes the time to jump into some of those pictures with their kids…. you will never regret it.

A wedding is a story about relationships
After four years in the portrait industry I am finally ready to make the leap! What leap you ask ….well the one that involves me capturing your big day! Kate Craft Photography is taking the plunge into wedding photography. This has been a year in the making. It was not a decision I took lightly. To me a wedding isn’t a story about the details of one day. “It is a major event woven into the fabric of the lives of two people.” Point being the bride and groom have had a lot of experiences in their lives. They have families, who raised them, and who are part of this big day. They have best friends who will stand up with them at their wedding. There is serious amounts of history involved here.
A wedding isn’t a just the pretty details and posed photo- ops. It’s a story about relationships. And those relation- ships will continue on after the wedding is over. Most likely the couple will one day have children, and grandchil- dren. And those lil’ ones will want to see the wedding photos. They will want to know how it all began! I want the images of your day to capture not only the wedding day but also the relationships that started this family.
